NEWS and EVENTS
Feb 4th 2010: Tanya Magdalena is doing a guest spot again! She will be in the shop for the rest of the week, so come down and get tattooed! Click here to see her work.
Jan 2010: Paco is going to be traveling to Europe this summer, most likely in August and September! Please check back often as dates and locations will be posted as they are confirmed.

Nov 2009: Graven Image has a brand new eStore! Please check it out for sketchbooks and other art. We will be updating it with new items regularly!

GRAVEN IMAGE TATTOO AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Supplies Needed:
1) Aquaphor Healing Ointment (any drug store)
2) Dr. Bronners Almond liquid soap (Longs, Whole Foods)
3) Any mild unscented lotion (Curell, Neutrogena)
At Night 1-3: Wash tattoo at night with soap and water. Make sure to wash well the first night. Let tattoo air dry, and then apply small amount of ointment. Rewrap tattoo with clean plastic wrap and sleep with new bandage on.
During the Day 1-3: Wash tattoo in the morning and apply very small amount of ointment. Reapply ointment as needed throughout the day. Do not wrap during the day!
Days 4-14: Continue to wash tattoo at least every morning. Switch to unscented lotion and apply often throughout the day and before bed. Do not wrap tattoo after the 3rd night.
FYI
Tattoos generally take 2 weeks to heal. If you have a medical condition (Diabetes, HIV, hemophilia, etc.) or are taking blood thinning medication (aspirin, asthma medication, etc.) it may take longer to heal. To speed up the healing process you can take vitamins such as B complex, Vitamin C, Zinc and Iron. Also avoid alcohol (which thins blood), get enough rest and eat well.
After about 3 days your tattoo will start to peel like a sunburn. Dont worry this is normal! If your tattoo itches, DONT SCRATCH IT! Slap it or spray witchhazel on it. Please use strong sunblock after your tattoo is healed to protect it and keep it looking great.
If there are any signs of infection (excessive swelling, discharge, redness), please contact a physician. If physician care is required relating to your tattoo, please notify your tattoo artist of the problem and the resolution.

At Graven Image Tattoo:
1. All instruments are fully sterilized. We clean each by hand, then run them through (1) Ultrasonic cleaner filled with Alconox, (2) Autoclave hospital type sterilizer for 20 minutes.
2. Fresh needles and ink caps are used for each client. We discard used needles in biohazard sharps containers.
3. Disposable latex gloves are worn during all procedures (including cleaning). Stations and spray bottles are covered with disposable plastic. All surfaces are cleaned after each client.
